2024 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions keeps things eclectic. But like 2023, a lot of that is contained into a continued shift towards incorporating other UD brands into the checklist. So not only is it multi-sport (with a healthy dose of history and pop culture) but it has elements from some of the company’s most familiar lines. Hobby boxes have two guaranteed hits, which can be autographs, memorabilia cards, manufactured relics and more.

2024 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Checklist Overview

The base set starts with 100 standard cards. Athletes aren’t just from the usual baseball, basketball and other mainstream hobby sports. Runners, swimmers and even pickleballers are integrated into the checklist. Goodwin Champions typically incorporates some other celebrities and pop culture personalities as well. Every other pack has a Splash of Color high number. With 50 available, this brings a complete base set up to 150 cards. Until recently, Goodwin Champions had a sizeable list of mini parallels. That’s changed as the brands has evolved. Glossy versions for the first 100 cards land 1:3 hobby packs. All 150 cards also get the Printing Plate treatment. Goodwin Platinum (1:5 packs) gives cards the chromium treatment. Additional colors and patterns include:

Finally, Splash of Color cards have 3-D Lenticular cards. These comes in three tiers of rarity ranging from 1:50 hobby packs to 1:1,400. Some of these are also part of an UD Bounty program. Those that finish the set and register it can be eligible for exclusive cards not available in packs.

Autographs and Memorabilia Cards

Goodwin Autographs have been a staple in the set since Upper Deck started with the brand more than a decade ago. Collectors will find on-card signatures and a lot of overlap with the base set as far as subjects go. Standard autographs are 1:75 hobby packs with Horizontal (1:240 packs), Inscriptions (1:2,000 packs) and Dual Autographs (/10) also available. Splash of Color Autographs are scarce at 1:1,900 packs. Goodwin Memorabilia (1:180 packs) and Splash of Color Memorabilia (1:360 packs) take a similar approach only with swatches instead of signatures. Goudey Autographs (1:300 packs) return for another year. Top names land in both Goudey Sport Royalty Autographs (1:9,000 packs) and Sport Royalty Memorabilia (1:2,400 packs).

Adding a throwback presence to the 2024 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions checklist are 2000 Retro SP Authentic Football Autos and 2001 Retro SP Authentic Future Watch Baseball Autos. Both sets have print runs of 299 copies. History plays a role in Goodwin’s memorabilia in different ways. These include Museum Collection World War II Uniform Button Relics (1:2,400 packs), 1924 United States Currency Relics (1:4,800 packs), Birth Year Quad Coinage (/50) and Alaska Joins the Union: 65th Anniversary Gold Nugget Relics (/20).

Exquisite Black Diamonds

Two of Upper Deck’s top premium brands appear in 2024 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions. First up is Exquisite Collection, which have standard inserts numbered to 99 or, for rookies, 149. Exquisite Rookie Autos and Patch Autos have 99 copies each plus Gold Spectrum (/10) and Black (1/1) parallels. Veteran Autos go directly to Gold Spectrum (/10) and Black (1/1) versions. A new assortment of Exquisite Collection Signature Kicks are on the checklist. These pair an autograph with pieces of sneakers like those worn by the featured athlete (but not actually worn by the athlete).

There’s also Black Diamond. Standard inserts and Rookie Gems are both numbered to 349 and have Red (/100) and Green (/10) parallels. Select cards also have autographs. Diamond Relics for both are have 99 copies each and come with anywhere from one to four diamonds embedded in them depending on the athlete. One-of-one Pure Black parallels are available for Diamond Relics. More gems are available in Gemography, Band of Color (/20) and Band of Color Rookies (/24).

Young Guns and Additional Inserts

Upper Deck’s flagship line gets the multi-sport treatment in 2024 Goodwin Champions in the form of Young Guns (1:3 packs). Clear Cut parallels done with acetate are 1:240 packs. Young Guns also have Printing Plates. It wouldn’t be a modern Goodwin set without a run of manufactured patch cards. This year, the product skips nature and looks to books. Literary Classic Patches come in five levels of rarity making set building a challenge. Goodwin Masterpieces – Art of Ages see classic pieces recreates meticulously on trading cards. Each is a one-of-one.
