Product Details
2023-24 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey does its best to live up to its name. It might not be quite the level of The Cup as far as prestige goes, but it’s close. The long-running premium brand continues to revolve around high-end hits and a checklist highlighted by low print runs for individual cards. Four-card hobby boxes have at least one autograph and one memorabilia card with another being a distinct possibility.
2023-24 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Checklist Overview
The main base set has 100 cards — 75 veterans and a 25-card Legends subset. All come numbered to just 149 with additional Blue (/99), Gold (/35), Purple (/15) and Black (/5) parallels also available. Autograph versions are 1:8 packs for vets and 1:48 for Legends. These have their own Gold, Purple (/5) and Black (1/1) spins. Jumbo Jersey Veterans come numbered to 149. Legends are limited to just 10. Scarce Patch and one-of-one Shield Patch versions are also on the 2023-24 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey checklist. Diving even deeper are Jumbo Patch Autographs that have no more than three copies and one-of-one Shield Patch Autographs.
Depending on the player, Ultimate Rookies Autograph Patch cards come numbered to 99, 49 or 25. Parallels are kept to a minimum for these with Jumbo Patches bringing a print run of just 15 copies and Jumbo Shield being one-of-a-kind. Land the Connor Bedard and you’ve likely got the hit of the product. More rookie content is available in Ultimate Introductions (1:3 packs) and Ultimate Introductions Showcase (1:32 packs). Both have Gold (/49), Purple (/25) and Black (/5) parallels. Autographs are 1:5 packs or 1:80 for Showcase cards. Gold, Purple (/10 or less) and Black (1/1) signatures are also in the product.
More Autographs
Everything else on the 2023-24 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey checklist has autographs, memorabilia or both. It’s in the both department that Ultimate strives to live up to its lofty title. Ultimate Planks is one of the product’s debuts. Versions include Legendary Shield (/49 or 25), Autographs (/10), Legends Autographs (/10), and Original Six Today Autographs (/5). These also have unsigned versions that have no more than 49 copies each. Crease Collection Auto Relics are also new. Numbered parallels include Patch and Gold Spectrum Patch (/5). Ultimate Emblems Auto Relics are back for both veterans (1:7 packs) and rookies (1:5 packs). Gold (/99 or less) and Platinum (/10 or less) add to the chase. A handful of inserts jump back a couple of decades for their inspiration. 2003-04 Ultimate Collection Signatures Rookies Gold Patch top out at 49 copies a piece with some even more rare versions also available. 2003-04 Ultimate Collection Signatures (/15), Signatures Rookies (/199 or /65), Retro Signatures, and Retro Signatures Rookies (/65 or /25) have a foot in the past as well.
Among the other signed memorabilia cards on the 2023-24 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey checklist are Signature Masterpieces (1:16 packs), Debut Threads (/199 or less), Pro Threads (/99 or less), Signature Premium Materials, Rookie Signature Premium Materials, and Ultimate Access Patch Autographs, which use action photography. More ink is available in Ultimate Signatures (1:6 packs), Ultimate Rookie Signatures (1:8 packs) and Rookie Accents.
Memorabilia Cards
On the relic front, Ultimate Displays (/125 or less) draw inspiration from what you might see hanging in a hobby room. Patch (/49 or less) and Tag (/5 or less) versions can also be found. Ulti-mates (1:8 packs) and Ultimate Quad Materials (/149 or less) use multiple swatches. Other memorabilia inserts include La Collection Ultime (1:42 packs), Ultimate Rookies Jersey Variations (/499 or less), Ultimate Patches (/10) and Ultimate Shields (1/1).
