2023-24 O-Pee-Chee Hockey continues to tap into the set building mentality along with a retro vibe appropriate for one of the oldest brands in the industry. Like recent years, despite a large checklist, collectors shouldn’t be expecting traditional hits like autographs and memorabilia cards. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t chase elements. There are. They’re just in the form of tough inserts and manufactured patches.

2023-24 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Checklist Overview

The base set is a big one, totalling 600 cards. The first 500 are standard player cards and make up the sheel. The remaining 100 are either Marquee Rookie or All-Stars subset cards that combine to fall one per hobby pack.

Base parallels for the first 500 cards include:

Blue Border – 1:3 hobby packs
Red Border – 1:18 hobby packs
Purple Border – /49
Printing Plates – 1/1

Marquee Rookies and All-Stars get a different assortment of styles:

Rainbow Foil – /350
Black Rainbow Foil – /100
Green Rainbow Foil – /33
Gold Rainbow Foil – 1/1

Retro Variations also return, delivering a different design for all 600 cards. Standard Retro cards are one per pack while additional hobby-exclusive Black Border (/100) and Printing Plate (1/1) versions are also available.

Inserts

When it comes to inserts, there isn’t really anything new as far as themes go in 2023-24 O-Pee-Chee Hockey. OPC Playing cards are pack, giving collectors a chance to build a traditional deck. Number cards are the easiest to pull with face cards, aces and jokers being short prints. Only in hobby packs, they combine to appear four per box. Also back is O-Pee-Chee Premier. The name has its origins as one of the first premium brands from the early 1990s. Here, it’s an insert that lands three per hobby box. Pattern Foilboard (/75) parallels are only available in hobby.

OPC Patches continue showcasing more than a dozen different trophies and winners. Other patch themes include Hall of Fame Logo, Logo Updates and Mascots. 3-D Marquee Rookies, which use lenticular stock, are among the toughest cards in the product at 1:864 hobby packs. A Top Rookie Puzzle Bounty gives collectors a chance at special cards not available in packs. Those who complete the nine-card set can qualify for an award card, its Black Border (/100) parallel or an autographed version that has just 25 copies.
