The fourth edition of the colorful NHL card brand, 2020-21 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey remains focused on parallels while offering a new batch of inserts Increasing from last year, autographs average four per inner case, and every box contains 10 inserts and eight parallels. 

Base Set
Broken down into 40 veterans (#/21), 10 legends (#/11), 40 rookies (#/21) and 10 SP Rookie Portraits (#/11), the 100-card base set has considerable rarity in mind. However, the parallels are much more common with each box averaging eight Red base cards. Compared to 2019-20, the lineup is smaller with only two base parallels.

Inserts
For the inserts, the 2020-21 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey checklist features a few new choices. This includes Constant Threats (1:2) and Perennial All-Stars (1:12). Roaring 20s (18 cards; 1:8) does not refer to the time period, but instead the age group of the young stars. There’s also the acetate Exceptional insert, which is broken into three groupings: Exceptional Stars, Exceptional Young Stars, for those 25 and younger, and Exceptional Futures, for the rookies. The entire 100-card insert is numbered to 749 copies. In addition, the 50-card Synergy FX (#/749) line contains rookies and veterans. Purple (#/349), Green (#/99) and Gold (1/1) parallels populate the set with Mardi Gras colors. Familiar options consist of the Rookie Journey trio cards in Draft (#/999), Away (#/899) and Home (#/799) versions, as well as Stanley Cup Journey with Regular Season (#/999), Postseason (#/899) and Winning the Cup (#/799) editions. That leaves only Cast for Greatness (1:60) and Star Quest (1:64). 

Synergy Autographs

Adding signatures to the base cards and inserts, look for several different autographs in 2020-21 Upper Deck Synergy Hockey. The low-numbered base set works with similar numbering for the signed cards, as well. As far as the Synergy FX Autographs, the Green rookies are numbered to 99 and veterans can be found with 99 copies or 25 copies. All Gold versions are one-of-one cards. Collectors can also chase Synergy Autographs (1:160) and Star Quest Gold Autographs (#/5). New this year is the metal Cast for Greatness Signatures (#/25) set for 10 top players.
