2020-21 Skybox Metal Universe Hockey goes full ’90s, offering new collectors a first look at the wild series and giving seasoned collectors another nostalgic Upper Deck NHL set to build. The throwback brand highlights a variety of earlier Skybox designs. This is a similar concept to Fleer Retro and Fleer Showcase. In addition to several inserts, each Hobby box should contain one autograph.

2020-21 Skybox Metal Universe Hockey merges the metal-style look with an outer space background for the 200-card base set. The lineup includes All-Stars (#101-150) and Rookies (#151-200), with each subset card falling 1:2 packs. That means there should be one short print (SP) in every pack. There is also the 1997-98 Metal Universe base set, averaging 1:5 packs, which appears to use the popular NBA card design.  Naturally, when talking about 1997-98 Metal Universe, most collectors focus on the iconic Precious Metal Gems parallels. The PMG cards cover the base set and ’97-98 set, utilizing the same original formula where the first 10 cards in the print run are enhanced with green foil and the final 90 are done in red foil. There is a one-of-one gold PMG chase, as well.
