While Exquisite Collection has been part of Black Diamond for a while, it appears that the bonus Exquisite cards now come in the same pack.

Getting started with the main set, 2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey showcases colorful base cards limited to 299 copies. These also offer Pure Black parallels numbered to 99.

2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey Inserts / Tech / Relics

Making their first appearance in Black Diamond NHL are the Diamond Futures (#/249), Diamond Legends (#/49) and Diamond Stars (#/99) inserts. Of course, there are even more themed sets, including Diamond Cutters (1:20), Diamond Gallery (1:20), Diamond Might (#/99), Diamonation (#/99), Rookie Gems (Base #/399; Spectrum #/99) and Run for the Cup (#/99). Also new, Winter Classic Memories (1:5) highlights standouts from the annual event.

And 2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey doesn’t forget about the memorabilia fans either. In addition to the base set with Premium Relics for stars and legends, the hits consist of Diamond Mine Relics (Base 1:4; Premium #/25), Diamond Mine Dual Relics (Base 1:12; Premium #/10), Diamond Mine Triple Relics (Base 1:36; Premium #/5), Diamond Debut Relics (#/349), and Retired Numbers Patches (Base #/99; Gold jersey #’d).

Utilizing manufactured patches, the Team Logo Jumbos (1:5), Rookie Team Logo Jumbos (1:2), Rookie Team Logo Jumbos Retro Logo (1:8) cards add Full Team Logo (#/15), Full Alternate Logo (#/5) and NHL Shield Logo (1/1) editions.

From there, things get a bit more sparkly. Collectors can find base cards with some additional flair via Base Diamond Relics (#/5) and Pure Black (1/1) cards.

Diamond Relic Rookies is home to some of the top young names of the year, including Single Diamond, Double Diamond, Triple Diamond and Quad Diamond versions. These are each numbered to 99 copies and joined by Ruby (#/49), Emerald (#/10) and Pure Black (1/1) parallels.

2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey also offers Diamond Relic Rookies Flashback Quad Diamond. While the base cards are limited to the player’s jersey number, it has the same parallels as the rookies. Another familiar insert comes with Gemography Diamond Relic Autographs (#/25).

New for this year, the Purple Diamond Relic Auto (#/10) edition covers Diamond Futures, Diamond Legends and Diamond Stars subjects. These come as one-of-one Pure Black parallels, as well.

2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Autographs

Among the debuting autographs in the 2020-21 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey checklist, numbered Auto and Premium Auto Relic cards parallel the Diamond Futures, Diamond Legends and Diamond Stars inserts.

The Striking Silver on Black Signatures returns for top players and rookies. All cards are numbered and the rookies are capped at either 249 or 99 copies. Low-numbered Spectrum parallels add another level to collect. Fans of the Rookie Gems insert can track down Rookie Gems Pure Black Signatures (#/199 or #/99) and the one-of-one Spectrum parallel. After getting underway in 2019-20, Jewels of the Draft again features key rookies in the autograph patch set. Per UD, “these cards pop.”

The signed hits continue with Diamond Debut Auto Patch (#/25 or #/10), Retired Numbers Patches Gold Auto (jersey #’d) and Sparkling Scripts (Base – 1:12; Spectrum #/25). Winter Classic Memories Gold Auto (#’d to 2-Digit Year of WC) is another new insert. Another base extension is found with the Pure Black Auto parallel. These are all serial numbered.

Finally, the Auto Rookie Team Logo Jumbo Patch features different manufactured patch relics (#/99, #/49, #/25 or #/10) as well as the NHL Shield Logo Patch (1/1) parallel.
