Product Details
2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey lets collectors chase Upper Deck hits one pack at a time. Each four-card pack contains a rookie autograph, two additional hits, and a base card or Ultimate Introductions insert. The premium NHL set has now gone several years, including 2017-18, under the same one-pack-per-box format.
2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey Base / Inserts
Among the few non-hit options in 2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey, top stars abound in the 50-card base set, which is numbered to 149 copies. In addition to the one-of-one Onyx Black parallel, select subjects have base Autographs and Onyx Black Autographs (1/1). Shield Materials variants feature one-of-one NHL shield options, and some are signed.
Split into several rarity groups, the Ultimate Introductions line highlights top rookies via Tier 1 (1:3), Tier 2 (1:6), Tier 3 (1:9), Tier 4 (1:12), and Showcase (1:80) subsets. Parallels include Onyx Black (#/10) and Royal Red (#/6), plus Gold Auto (1:8), Showcase Gold Auto (1:184), Onyx Black Auto (#/10), and Showcase Onyx Black Auto (#/5).
2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey Rookie Autographs / Relics
NHL rookie standouts are also heavily featured in the 2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey hits. Ultimate Rookies is a popular RC option for many, offering Tier 1 (#/299) and Tier 2 (#/99) autograph groups. There are Ultimate Rookies Jersey (#/399) cards with limited Auto Patch (#/99 or #/49) parallels, as well. However, the Hobby-only Ultimate Rookies Auto Shield Variation (1/1) is arguably the biggest chase for rookie collectors. Other choices include Retro Rookies Auto (#/175), Retro Rookies Auto Patch (#/49) and Debut Threads Patch Auto (#/99).
2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey Autographs / Relics
If you only collect the seasoned NHL stars, 2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey still has you covered. Ultimate Access is a new jersey insert that adds Tier 1 (1:8) and Tier 2 (1:64) rarity to go along with Auto, Premium Materials (#/10 or less), and Premium Materials Auto versions. Ultimate Icons has a similar assortment with Tier 1 (1:12) and Tier 2 (1:36) relic groups, plus Auto, Premium Materials (#/10 or less), and Premium Materials Auto versions.
The NHL shield patches are obviously rare, but they get a good run in 2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey, and not just in the base parallels. Additional places to fine these “holy grail” cards include All-Star Skills Shield Patch (1/1) and Auto (1/1), All-Star Tandem Shield Patch (1/1), and Rookie Tandem Shield Patch (#/2). As for the familiar inserts, collectors can track down Signature Laureates, Signature Material Laureates and Signature Masterpieces (1:8).
Memorabilia-based cards are common, as well, with Ultimate Materials and Ultimate Materials Auto. 2018-19 Ultimate Collection Hockey also has the all-new Ultimate Dual Materials Auto set to go along with Ultimate Quad Materials (#/99 or #/25). Paying tribute to a past hobby era, the 1997 Legends (1:28) and 1997 Legends HOF (1:120) autographs work in the classic ’97 style.
